Research Experience
Assistant to Dr. Ranjan Ganguly
University of Tennessee, Department of BCMB, Knoxville, TN
Dr. Ganguly’s lab examined sources of induction for Cytochrome P450 in Drosophila Melanogaster. Experiments focused on CYP450 activity by evaluating the Luciferase gene. By examining the three instar larvae stages and comparing luc and protein assays, I determined that the proportion of luc gene expression increased as the larvae neared their pre-pupa stage. I successfully completed my own research proposal and received a stipend to complete my project during 2009. My research examined the luc levels of drosophila after treatment with optically active, psycho-stimulants Taurine, Ginseng, and Adderall XR.

“Factors predicting outcome after nonoperative treatment of displaced proximal humerus fractures in elderly patients.” I assisted in compiling data, contacting potential participants, and examining patients who have had Neer three or four part proximal humerus fractures. Inclusion criteria require patients to have a minimum of a two-year duration since injury.
